Final Project of Degree

FEBRUARY 2013.
REHAB HOTEL TAORO,
PUERTO DE LA CRUZ, TENERIFE

The building is one of the most important in Puerto de la Cruz. The Hotel was constructed in 1890. It was an important point of the tourism in Tenerife. In 1914 it turned into a reference of high society's tourism In 1929 the hotel was burned and totally destroyed. In the 50th, the hotel was rebuilt.  Twenty years after the hotel suffers hard crisis and the government bought. They tried to convert it into a casino, but the hotel was abandoned and today it doesn't have use.
My purpose is changing the use, and turns the hotel into Investigation Centre of Wind and Climate. The building is integrated in one of the most important industries in Canarias’s Island, Renewable Energies. The building is transformed in a big Climate laboratory and the industry could test of their instruments and tools.
The climate laboratories are completed with a technology skin. This skin gets clean energy and makes wind movements inside the building. Because of that, the building reduces the energy demand. The project tries to propose a new model of laboratory, and complete the industry making accessible tests in different countries all together in the same place.
